Tinoonga Mawere| Opposition party Transform Zimbabwe, has described the death of Dr Oliver”Tuku” Mtukudzi as a “dark cloud that has engulfed the entire nation.”
Transport Zimbabwe is a Christian opposition political party led by Jacob Ngarivhume.
See below Ngarivhume’s statement on the death of Dr Mtukudzi:
A dark cloud continues to hover above Zimbabwe. I am deeply saddened by the loss of our legendary iconic superstar Dr Oliver Mutukudzi.
I remember our interaction at another iconic hero Dr Morgan Tsvangirai’s funeral.
The man was a unifier and his music was appreciated abroad and at home. It’s this same spirit of unity that Zimbabwe needs right now.
Dr Oliver Mtukudzi was an ambassador for the down trodden and he stood against stigma of all forms and shapes.He even worked with people living with disability, people living with HIV and people with albinism.
We shall forever remember him through his music.
A recipient of several global and local awards, most notably the ambassador for UNICEF as an international recognition of his talent and contribution to the arts and music industry.
I am appealing to the state to honour him with a befitting send off in the form of a state funeral and accord him national hero status. The national flag should fly at half mast and his burial day must be declared a national day of mourning.The nation has been robbed of an icon!
