Now, I have a question, a genuine question, for all Zimbabweans and Africans too.

Sekuru Kaguvi was killed by British colonial forces in Zimbabwe for resisting colonialism. That is why he was executed. But before they killed him, they asked him to convert to Christianity.

Sekuru Kaguvi was converted to Christianity after a Roman Catholic priest, Father Richartz, was assigned by the colonial authorities to convert him before his execution. Of course, we all know that the heroic Mbuya Nehanda refused to be converted.

Now ask yourself this. Would someone who is taking your land, crushing your resistance and ultimately taking your life suddenly become so compassionate that, before killing you, they want to save your soul? Would a system built on violence and domination genuinely care about your eternal happiness in heaven, as described in the very religion they are asking you to adopt?

Do you really believe that the same colonial authorities who executed Sekuru Kaguvi were concerned about his life after death, or was the religion being presented to him part of the same machinery of control that justified his execution in the first place?

Do you think colonial authorities who have taken your land, taken your cattle, taken your goats, used you as free labour on your own land, and called you racist names would suddenly care about you before they kill you, to the extent that they ask you to convert so that you can enjoy heaven and have a good life after death?

This is a genuine question. I expect genuine answers. Do you think that they came to save your soul, or they came to control your mind?
