Uganda, Kampala – (News Of The South) – A female tourism devotee, Leslie Carvell is set to drive around the River Nile section in Uganda in her 1970 VW Beetle Named “Percy” in her efforts to raise funds for wildlife.

Many people who have sought adventure are known to have walked along Africa’s longest river, the Nile, to re-trace the routes followed by British explorers John Speke and Samuel Baker during their expeditions.

“The three weeks expedition will enable me raise money and create awareness for the Uganda Conservation Fund, a UK-based charity that focuses on Ugandan conservation working with partners to deliver practical conservation projects in under-funded areas in Uganda,” Ms Carvell, the general manager Nile River Explorers, said.

Daily photos and short articles on an independent Facebook page will be documented by Ms Carvell, this will also include a blog and other social media, calling for people to raise money deposited on a mobile money number – 0785788067.

“The expedition will be the first time a classic car has done such a journey in Uganda and a rare opportunity for the tourism and conservation fraternities to come together and highlight Uganda,” she added.

The expedition, according to Ms carvell will also highlight efforts by other worthwhile conservation organisations within Uganda like the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust.

Jossy Muhangi, UWA’s spokeperson said Ms Carvell has been offered free access to all parks along the Nile because her cause will be bolstering UWA works.
