Harare. (News Of The South) – Organisers of the Zimbabwe Schools’ Quiz Tournament say all is set for the final after the provincial knock-outs that were held recently in the capital.

Speaking to News Of The South, the Book of African records Harare province co-coordinator Brain Tayengwa said all provincial winners are geared for the ‘grand event’.

“We held successful Provincial knockouts across all 10 provinces in the country and everything is underway to ensure that come the 8th of August at Prince Edward School everything will be in place,” said Tayengwa.

Professor Emmanuel Ngara of ZIMCHE (Zimbabwe Council of Higher Education) will be the quiz master.

The Harare Provincials were held at Churchill Boys High School where St. John’s Emerald Hill, Prince Edward High School and Zengeza 1 High School took the first, second and third places respectively to represent the province..
This year’s format saw three teams from each province qualifying to the national final.

At least 30 schools will battle for honours at the final.

Mashonaland West will be represented by Kutama College, Sanyati Baptist and Vimbai High School while Mashonaland East will be represented by St Ignatius College, Rusunguko High School and Monte Cassino Girls High.

St. Albert’s High School, Mazowe High School and Howard High School from Mashonaland Central and Bulawayo will see Townsend High School, Montrose High School and Sikhulile High School taking part while from Matebeleland South there will be Mtshabezi High School, St Mary’s High School and Colleen Bawn High School at the national schools quiz.

Mosi-oa-tunya High School, John Tallack High School and St James’ High School will represented Matebeleland North and Gokomere High School, St Anthony’s High School and Mwenezi Government School will come from Masvingo.
Manicaland will be represented by St Faith’s High School, Marist Brothers Nyanga and Mutare Boys High School while Fletcher High School, Shungu High School and Musume High School will come from Midlands.

The Zimbabwe Schools’ Quiz Tournament is an Afro-centric quiz competition for high schools. It is the premier schools’ quiz competition in Zimbabwe, reaching schools in all corners of the country.

The tournament is organised by the Book of African Records, an Afro-focused research and educational institution based in Harare.
