Lake Zone, Tanzania. (News of The South) In 2019 Tanzania racked in US$2.44 billion from its tourism industry. This was revealed yesterday by the minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Hamis Kigwangalla.
“Last year alone there were over 100 000 more tourists who made the total number of tourists who arrived in the country to reach 1.5 million,” said the minister.
Tanzania is set to launch the Lake Zone International Tourism Exhibition and Investment Forum which is expected to take place in the Lake Zone.
Deputy minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Constantine Kanyasu said tourism was the biggest opportunity to improve the country’s economy.
Kanyasu further highlighted that the government was hoping to improve the sector of tourism through the Lake Victoria International Exhibition.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Adolf Mkenda concurred with the deputy minister, “we have decided to have the International Tourism Exhibition so that we may advertise ourselves more.”
