Yet another Zimbabwean star Prince J Sande aka Princo is rising in the Jazz music industry.
The Bindura based man behind the Takangokumirirai sistran hit-song is proving that he does not only possess a killer voice which makes his songs easy to sing along but also his ability to write songs which are rich in shona.
The 23 yr old musician is fast rising into stardom through his consistency and his command in Shona language.
Despite being young, Princo now boost of three albums under his belt namely Ku London,Zvaakunakidza and Zvakufaya with the latest Zvakufaya already making waves on radio stations and in streets.
Though many tends to mistakenly take his music as somehow dancehall but Princo cleared the air when this reporter linked up with him for an interview.
”My music is Afro Jazz/Passade but as of dancehall I just do some limited tracks for that genre annually, but that doesn`t mean that I`m a dancehall artist.
Of course I have songs which made waves within the dancehall circles such as Takangokumirirai sistran, Ndafunga Gwanda, Maguma Guma and my collaboration with Seh Calaz Taenda nenyika which is still making waves in the streets being my latest dancehall offering, but I`m an Afro Jazz artist”, said Princo.
It seems that the heavens are smiling for this extremely talented young artist as he has already managed to breakthrough into the music industry despite the fact that he hails from outside Harare as he is based in Bindura, this is evidenced by his collaborations with Extra large and Seh Calaz which shows his talent is not going unnoticed.
To show that he is taking his musical career seriously Princo has already assembled a seven member band which he uses for live shows, which shows how determined and focused he is.
By taking dancehall as a way of popularising his grand entrance on the musical world it seems Princo borrowed a leaf from an artist whom he shares striking musical similarities, Jah Prayzah born Mukudzei Mukumbe who took the route to Afro Jazz/Traditional via dancehall.
If this young artist continues working hard, remains level headed, improves on live shows, ropes in good and competent management, stays away from scandals and start working with established artists in Jazz music such as Victor Kunonga, Progress Chipfumo, Jah Prayzah) and many others for mentorship he will be a house hold name in the music industry in no time.
