MBABANE – Certain Swazi pastors usually attend services and seminars hosted by Pastor Lesego Daniel who is famous for forcing his members to eat grass to be closer to God.
Speaking on behalf of the pastor, Madloti, an administration officer, said he would not reveal the names of Swazi pastors who attended services at Rabboni Centre Ministries at Garankuwa, north-east of Pretoria.
Madloti said he would not single them out because Pastor Daniel, as a matter of fact, hosted international pastors from all walks of life, including many from Swaziland.
He said the church’s doctrine was not limited to “grass eating” but was theologically pure and broad; a teaching based on the ideals of the gospel of Jesus Christ. “That’s why we attract your people in Swaziland to worship with us and to get the anointing because we teach the pure gospel of Jesus Christ,” he said.
Madloti refused to disclose whether Swazi pastors joined the other brethren in eating the grass. He said it was not only Swazi pastors who attended but scores of Swazi Christians attended the services or viewed them on the church’s TV channel, Rabboni TV (RTV) on Dstv decorder’s public bouquet.
He said it was in the church’s plans to open a branch in Swaziland but a crusade in the kingdom was imminent after having a successful one in Botswana last year.
He said Pastor Daniel would have a crusade on February 5, 2014, in Nelspruit. Madloti said Pastor Daniel’s Rabboni Centre Ministries expected many Swazis to attend the crusade in Nelspruit.
The Times SUNDAY wanted to know from Madloti if members of his church would share the grass with cattle in Nelspruit, he said the church had since put the issue of the grass to rest.
“I can’t even give you comment on whether Swazis chewed the grass or their pastors. We have ordered the pastor to stop addressing the media on this issue. We won’t help you if you ask us about grass but if you ask us about Jesus, we will definitely be of assistance to you,” he said.
He said there would be an all-night prayer on February 7, 2014 in Nelspruit. It is during this time that the pastor claims to be receiving revelations from the supreme being, which he conveys to the saints to do; such as chewing the grass.
The South African government has raised concern over the health of the Christians who were being forced to eat grass.
Last Sunday, Pastor Daniel told his congregation that the world would be amazed at seeing Christians flying. “Jesus turned water into wine but because it’s now me – a small boy from this undermined town – everyone wants answers,” the Daily Sun quoted him.
“God started something here. I only accepted it. The next thing to happen is that we will see people floating in the air.”
Even though his controversial methods have drawn criticism from thousands of people, members of his congregation swear by his methods. He recently told them that humans could eat anything to feed their bodies and survive on whatever they chose to eat.
Bishop Stephen Masilela, the president of the Swaziland Conferences of Churches, said he was not aware of pastors and Christians who attended Pastor Daniel’s services in Garankuwa, South Africa.
He said he did not believe in the grass eating doctrine
