(News of The South) – South Africa’s pay television station Supersport is currently in talks with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in a bid that will see the television station broadcasting CAF matches.
A few days ago CAF terminated a billion dollar contract it had with French media company Lagardere Sports, over a breach of competition rules.
This has ultimately resulted in CAF matches not being aired. The ongoing Africa Cup of Nations U-23 tournament in Egypt is one such example.
SuperSport which has a US$130 million TV deal with CAF, through Lagardere Sports, is the leading broadcast partner of the African football governing body on the continent.
Abdel Bah CAF’s Director of Marketing shared some positive light on the issue of the continental games, “we should find a solution with SuperSport by today I think.”
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers will commence tomorrow and most football revellers are expecting CAF to have come up with a solution by then.
