Stop Recycling Old Guards In Council Authorities: Muchauraya
By Martin Muleya.
Mutare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – Former Member of Parliament for Makoni South has blasted Zanu PF of shutting out youths from participating in developing their areas by recycling the old guard even in running rural councils.
Introducing Renewal Democrats of Zimbabwe RDZ candidate at a rally at Handina Secondary School in Buhera last Friday, RDZ spokesperson Pishai Muchauraya said the forthcoming council by-elections should usher in, a new leadership and system of governance in which rural youths would play a pivotal role.

“We are tired of ageing councillors who were appointed under Zanu PF ticket. They have run short of ideas and have nothing new to offer as they are past their prime ages,” Muchauraya said.
Constance Nemuseso will represent RDZ in the forthcoming elections after the MDC-T vowed not to participate in any election without electoral reforms.
“We have reached a moment where we should not allow Zanu Pf candidates to win even any election because their time of leading people since expired,” he added.
Muchauraya said the recycling of deadwood was also taking a toll on rural youths as it was hamstringing development.
Muchauraya who was thumped by Zanu PF”s Mandi Chimene in the July 2013 plebiscite crossed the floor to MDC Renewal before abandoning it to join Eliot Mangoma”s RDZ.
He also took a swipe at MDC T for failing to advance the needs of the electorate. Muchauraya said the nation needed development and not Tsvangirai”s ‘no reforms no election’ rhetoric.
He however was quick to make a climb down, reiterating that Zanu Pf as a party was their biggest enemy and that they were not in harmony with Tsvangirai’s party policy.
“it is the RDZ and Zanu Pf who are contesting in the council by elections to be held early next month. There are other political parties that have refused to come on board citing that they are waiting for electoral reforms.
“There are no signs of rains and if we let Zanu PF cling to power we will continue suffering. MDC –T are not our enemies but Zanu Pf are, because they have failed the nation. What we are doubting about MDC- T is that their policies are not sound with us. There are certain things that are applicable in Harare but at this moment we need councillors”.
