0 0Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-Popular action movie star Steven Seagal has been banned from entering Ukraine for five years after being blacklisted by the country’s authorities, according to RT news.
The cause of Seagal being banned from the country is being attributed to his taking to the “stage during a concert in the Crimean Black Sea port city of Sevastopol in August 2014, organized by the Russian biker club, the Night Wolves”
Seagal is also reportedly the recipient of a Russian citizenship received from President Vladimir Putin, who gave him the passport personally at the Kremlin.
This has however served to sour the relationship with Ukraine which has been at loggerheads with Russian which annexed Crimea from it.
According to RT Seagal, the main actor in a number of action flicks such as Under Siege and On Deadly Ground, is however not the first celebrity to be banned from entering Ukraine.
Famous American boxer Roy Jones Jr was also added to the country’s blacklist in 2015 as he was cited as a security threat and the Ukraine authorities even threatened him with a criminal case.
Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was in 2015 barred from entering the country for three years in the ‘interests of national security”
Ukraine’s war of attrition with Russia has left the region teetering on the edge with intermittent flare-ups between the two nations.
