South African Police Officer Faces Charges For Abusing Zimbabwean Student
A Zimbabwean woman Lizzy Majuru 33 is stranded in South Africa while her abuse case (Ref 538/11/2014) against one South African police officer Constable Prince Serouke Qekisi is being dealt with by South African courts.
Majuru a Zimbabwean student who was studying in South African student who recently graduated started dating Qekisi in June 2013, after some time Qekisi forced his way to move in with Majuru into her Brixton student accomodation.
Majuru who spoke to News Of The South on Thursday explained her ordeal and how Qekisi forced her
to go on Depo provera contraceptive injection in october 2013.
“Qekisi took me to the clinic by a state car, on arrival at the clinic and he made himself my next of kin so that my familly would never find out.

“He used to come home with his work firearm and he used put it under the pillow and always threatened to kill me if I dumped him.
He seldom loaded and unloaded the gun in front of me telling me it was for criminals and I was going to be his victim” she explained.
Qekisi was said to come to Majuru`s flat at night while he was on night shift, on arrival he is said to have taken her laptop to watch movies during the time Majuru was studying.
As the abuse got worse the cop is said to have forced Majuru to sleep with him while he handcuffed her like a crimminal beating her up at the same time.
“I had to leave school and go back to Zimbabwe where I stayed for one month and returned to South Africa to finish my studies.
“I made it clear to Qekisi that we could no longer be together and that we should break up, he told me I could not dump him but he is the one who should dump me.
” He challenged me to report him whereever I wanted and bragged that nothing would be done to him, he boasted that he could freely go home and sleep at night when he was on night duty and in the morning he could simply go back to work to clock out as if he had been working all night”.
I then reported this issue to his province head office then they phoned Brixton Police and handed the case over to Brixton.
Qekisi was arrested and stayed in prison for two weeks and is currently out on bail.
“Very often he drives past my house in the state vehicle showing off for me to see him and that nothing was done to him” she added.
” While driving past my house he would shout that he still owned me as long as his uniform was hanging in my wardrobe”.
This was reported to South African authorities who then visited Majuru1s house to pick up Qekisi`s SAP uniform which was evidence that he had living illegally in Qekisi`s student accomodation.
Majuru says she is now stuck in South Africa as Qekisi took her passport to prevent her from leaving South Africa after her graduation. She also has to wait in South Africa for another three months while her case is finalised by the courts.
Majuru explained how she has repeated requested for her passport from Qekisi who claims he never took it.
“Several people have come forward as witnesses after seeing how Qekisi abused me but not much is being done about my case.

“I have made reports to Qekisi`s station Commander Colonel Jones as well as the South African Police Provincial headquarters in Parktown.
“I even failed to travel to Zimbabwe for my graduation party and at the moment it is not possible to renew my permit to stay in South Africa due to non availability of my passport” Majuru added.
Asked what form of ID Majuru had in her possession she explained that she only had a
a police affidavit and that the South African police were not doing anything to ensure her passport was returned.
Majuru also said she was attacked last week and her mobile phone which had more evidence against Qekisi was stolen from her. She doesn`t feel safe in South Africa a country known for so much crime and corruption.
