(News of The South) – Cricket South Africa (CSA) is currently going through a rough phase. On Sunday CSA’s CEO Thabang Moroe revoked the accreditation of five journalists which in turn opened up CSA’s canon of worms.
Ever since Moroe took that move of revoking the accreditation, CSA has now been under intense scrutiny which has seen even South African cricketers vying for a strike.
It continues to pour for CSA, today Moroe was suspended by the CSA board for allegations of misconduct.
“The decision to place Mr. Thabang Moroe on precautionary suspension follows from the reports received by the Social and Ethics Committee and the Audit and Risk Committee of the Board related to possible failure of controls in the organisation.
During the course of Mr. Thabang Moroe’s precautionary suspension, a forensic audit of critical aspects of the business and the conduct of management related to such aspects shall be conducted by an independent forensic team,” cited the Board.
CSA’s main sponsor Standard Bank dropped a bombshell a couple of hours ago that it will not renew its agreement as the title sponsor of the men’s cricket team when it concludes on April 30, 2020.
“Standard Bank is committed to upholding the highest levels of leadership, integrity and governance. In light of recent developments at CSA, which are a culmination of long standing problems which have damaged Standard Bank’s reputation, it has decided not to renew its partnership with CSA,” said Standard Bank Group Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Thulani Sibeko.
