Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – Issues revolving around ´spiritual fathers’ and mentorship forums has lately generated into a centre of heated debate among various Christian denominations and Pentecostal churches with the latest being SA based, Prophet C.K Tonnie launching a direct attack on Apostle Talent Chiwenga.
In an exclusive interview with News of the South yesterday, Prophet C K Tonnie real name Brighton Chikomo the reigning president of Champions Gathering for All Nations and Founder of Bright Light said Apostle Chiwenga is a controversial preacher who lacks sufficient knowledge of the gospel of God who castigates the element of mentorship in Christianity.
“ I am saddened by some pastors like Chiwenga, a controversial preacher in my own home country Zimbabwe who lacks the relevant knowledge of the gospel of God as he is always attacking other church leaders for receiving mentorship assistance from established prophets.”
The self styled prophet uttered these sentiments while attending a Christian Mentorship Seminar held in Pretoria last Friday adding that he is a living testimony of a person who exhumed from dust to success under the spiritual guidance of E D Brinkman, a spiritual father whom he believes have uplifted him.
“ I see nothing wrong in receiving spiritual upliftment as I am one of the few people who have seen success through mentorship, I owe all my current successes to one great man and a spiritual father, Prophet E D Brinkman , from the moment I met him all my dreams came true, I am now the President of two organizations , Champions Gathering for All Nations and Bright Light.”
According to C K Tonnie mentorship is an initiative which evolved from the biblical ages , where he gave an example of how spiritual mentorship was crucial to Peter under Jesus Christ and Elisha under Elijah.
“We should always refer to the bible, look at Elisher how he became powerful after meeting Elijah and also Peter became an Apostle through Jesus so I don’t seem to understand why Chiwenga is against Christian leaders like us who receives mentorship as a Christian principle.”
On the other hand Apostle Talent Chiwenga who usually conducts his sermons in Harare’s First Street, Central Business District (CBD) is on record denouncing religious leaders who sought spiritual assistance from already established Christian leaders in various parts of the African continent and the world as a way to increase popularity and strengthen spiritual powers.
