Harare- Some uniformed soldiers on Wednesday reportedly assaulted activists of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) led by Zimbabwe’s former Prime Minister Morgan Richard Tsvangirai.

This came after the activists took to the streets to campaign mobilizing other party supporters to attend the opposition leader’s rally to be held in Highfield, one of Harare’s populous suburbs.

Legislator for Highfield, Eric Murayi said,” The youths were putting up posters to advertise the opposition rally set to be addressed by party president in Highfield over the weekend.

Six of the activists were seriously injured and the case has been reported at Machipisa Police Station.
