(News Of The South) – French Football Association and Fifa have announced that Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeon, Real Madrid mentor Carlo Ancelotti and Germany coach Joechim Low will fight for the 2014 World gaffer of the Year prize.
Simeon was instrumental in Atletico’s first La Liga win since 1996 and took them to the finals of the Champions League, where they lost to Real Madrid after extra-time.
Meanwhile, Ancelotti scooped Madrid’s 10th European Cup triumph in his first season at Bernabeu, while guided them to Copa del Rey success.
Joachim Low guided Germany to World Cup glory in Brazil after previously reaching the final at Euro 2008 as well as finish in top four of the 2010 World showcase first staged on African soil in South Africa.
The prize went to Jupp Heyckes last year following his milestone winning compaign with Bavarians, while Vicente del Bosque, Josep Pepe Guadiola and Jose Mourinho were winners in the preceding years.
Fifa will announce the winner on January 12 at a ceremony to be held in Zurich next year.
