Uganda, Lwengo. Police in Lwengo District have arrested a 25-year-old woman for burning private parts of her seven-year-old-daughter.
The mother pushed a burning piece of wood into the daughter’s private parts as a punishment for refusing to confess that she had had sex with a fellow minor.
The woman, a resident of Kisekka B village in Kisekka Sub-county, told police that she assaulted the daughter out of anger.
Ordeal
“I got information from her peers that a boy in the neighbourhood aged about nine years had played sex with her but when I asked her about it, she refused to say anything which annoyed me,” she said at Mbirizi Police Station yesterday.
The district criminal investigations officer, Ms Sofia Neboshi, said the girl was severely injured and taken to Masaka Hospital for treatment.
Ms Naboshi said the mother would be charged with torture. – Monitor
