Former AC Milan midfield wizard Clarence Seedorf has retired from the field of play to replace the sacked Allegri at the San Siro, the News of the South can reveal.

Missimiliano was dismissed off his duties following a string of poor results including a 4-3 defeat to lowly rated Sassuolo on Sunday, and the Dutchman confirmed on Tuesday that he will fill up the vacant left by Allegri.

“I am here to announce that I will retire from playing after 22 years,” said Seedorf who has been playing for Botafogo in Brazil.

“It has been a difficult decision, but I am satisfied with what I have achieved in my career. Here at Botafogo iam happy because I leave a team who have qualified for the Libertadores (Copa)

The experience of the last year and a half has made me grow up a lot and will help me in my next step, as coach of Milan, who have hired me in both an elegant and correct manner.

“I like challenges and coaching Milan is another challenge in my life. I could not say no to Milan’s offer because I spent 10 years there.

“I made the decision to join Milan today (Tueday) but last night was difficult night for me. But I made the right choice. I’m very happy about the opportunity Milan have given me and I’m very motivated.

The Dutchman played more than 400 matches in 10 years at Milan and claimed two Serie A and two Champions League trophies.
