(News of The South) – Elvis Matamba and the Red Dynamites men’s football team based in Cape Town, South Africa will be giving moral support to the Zimgems in South Africa when they take part in the Africa Netball Cup this week.

Zimbabwe are due to take on Uganda in their first encounter at the Belleville Vellodrome where a total of 8 teams will compete for top honours.

Elvis Matamba a qualified Netball Umpire based in Cape Town told News of The South he was impressed with the support given to the Zimgems (Zimbabwe national netball team) when they arrived in UK for the Vitality netball Worldcup so he would like to do the same.

” l am a Capetown resident, l love netball to the core l have been in the field now for three years, l am a qualified graded umpire and the chairperson for Red dynamites our men’s netball club and we fall under Bellville netball league in Capetown. We have more than 15 male netball clubs and among these clubs two of them are Zimbabwean clubs, Red dynamites and Golden eagles” Matamba.

There are more than 50 female clubs and among them 15 clubs are for Zimbabweans lady’s. Netball is a fast growing sport Worldwide and men have taken a great interest in the sport as can be seen from several men’s netball leagues Worldwide.

“We are all going to support our one and only Zim gems we can’t wait for the African cup tournament to kick off as most of us bought the flags already we are going to fill up velodrome, l did all l can to invite all Zimbabweans in Capetown and provinces around to come and support Zim Gems, some people will be flying from Johannesburg to support on the 18th of October and will make sure we accommodate everyone coming from far.

Matamba confirmed to News of The South that he took time off from work from 18 October to 22 so he can fully support the Zimgems.

“Capetown is waiting for you Zim Gems takamira nemusoro pasi makumbo mudenga hakudanwi anonzwa makuwerere ibatai murefu batai mupfupi mu Velodrome stadium Belleville Zim Gems we love you so much munotipasa manyemwe” said Mutamba.
