Harare, Zimbabwe (News of The South)- Back in the hunting and gathering band before course of history degenerated into the era of modernity people used to enjoy the magnificent aspects of life at minimum costs.

Untold sufferings and incurable maladies such as cancer, diabetics, high blood pressure among others would not find any place in the territory of human health life.

The myriad questions today are centered on how people should be going back to the old way of living necessarily to mitigate appalling level of death rates and high infant mortality that has become rampant in all corners of the society.

These were some of the major highlights which topped at the recently launched Zim Food and Traditional Culture Festival under the banner of Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA).

In a presentation made by a well renowned medical practitioner Elliot Chikati emphasized on the need for Zimbabweans to include traditional meals on their diet so as to ensure a health life.

“People are enjoying their healthy lives under deterioration due to the amount of food consumption which exposes them to a number of diseases which sometimes may have no form of medical cure.”
Doctor Chikati gave an example of a local patient who almost died of constipation and cancer of the colony due to modern food stuff which lacks health essentials which enhance a balanced diet.

Chikati a medical professional also advised patients to add traditional vegetables in the likes of muboora, nyevhe and tsunga.

The manner in which death rate is increasing on annual basis in the country has actually prompted medical practitioners to embrace the use of traditional herbs to help save the society from perishing.

In order to save the society from the health scourge Dr Amai Rebecca Chisamba challenged the Zimbabwean society to go back to the traditional way of life in a bid to restore the lost pride of the entire nation.

“Its high time as Zimbabweans we should embrace our own cultural norms and values to restore our lost pride, if other countries are still practising thier own culture and we should now be proud of our own.”

Zimbabwe is an example of an African nation which has been suffering from a deep cultural erosion hence the need to save the entire society by reconnecting people with their cultural norms and values.
