Raging veld fires hit Australia
By Takudzwa Mashumba
Uncontrollable veld fires have hit Australia’s New South Wales and a state of emergency has been declared for the next 30 days.
The investigations are currently underway on what caused the fires but an increase in temperature to as much as 37 degrees as well as strong winds have led the fires astray spreading them to Australia’s most populous.
Hundreds of houses have been destroyed and it is said of the 68 fires across the region 22 are uncontrollable and the fire fighters have tirelessly been struggling to douse some of the fires.
The state of emergency declared will give the government special powers of evacuation as well as dealing with the conditions.
It is alleged that, one of the major fires which started at the Lithgow was started by explosives at a military training exercise and investigations are currently underway to come up with a solid report on how the fire started.
One casualty has been reported so far.
