Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South) – Prof Jonathan Moyo has given opposition parties a word of advice against fighting amongst themselves as the country gears for 2018 elections.
Writing on social media the divisive but vocal politician has warned opposition parties to desist from infighting.
“The bane and undoing of opposition parties in Zimbabwe is that they invariably fall on each other to indulge in opposition without proposition”, he said.
The obvious tongue-in-cheek advice will however further strengthen theories of the Higher Education Minister’s enemies that he is seeking to destroy Zanu-PF from within.
However the sarcastic advice is obviously spot-on for the grouping that includes Tsvangirai’s MDC-T, Mujuru’s National People’s Party, Biti’s People’s Democratic Party and others who have been struggling to come up to an understanding so that they can coalesce into a coalition against Mugabe in 2018.
Just this week Mai Mujuru was quoted in the media allegedly ‘rubbishing’ Tsvangirai’s statements that she has until month end to agree to a coalition.
“I think the deadline was an issue that they gave themselves because they did not want to go about it blindly,” Mujuru said yesterday after signing an MoU with Democratic Assembly for Restoration and Empowerment (Dare) president, Gilbert Dzikiti.
“But what I see with my peers is that the things that we need to get to a point where people will be satisfied that everything is in good order; July 31, would it be a practical date, is it feasible to meet our needs?
“It is not about that date, no, but we are saying the ingredients that will make a coalition possible should be in place. We are well aware of the need to do it timeously, ” she said.
