Maseru, Lesotho.- (News of The South) – Lesotho police are looking for Maesiah Thabane, who is wife to Prime Minister Thomas Thabane in relation to the 2017 fatal shooting of Lipolelo Thabane, the Prime Minister’s ex wife.
The Lesotho magistrates court issued a warrant of arrest for Maesiah on Friday night. Prior to the warrant of arrest, the police went to the State House in search of the Prime Minister’s wife but failed to find her.
Last year, Lipolelo’s daughter Nkoya Hlaele, went on public accusing Maesiah of ordering her mother’s death.
In the aftermath of these incidents the ruling All Basotho Convention (ABC) party, has asked Prime Minister Thabane to resign over allegations that he was involved in the murder of his estranged wife two years ago.
The ABC described him as a “threat to the nation.” However, Thabane is yet to respond to the allegations.
Maesiah married Thomas Thabane shortly after Lipolelo was gunned down in her driveway on the eve of his inauguration in 2017.
Police want Maesiah to explain a phone call that was made to her cellphone from the scene of the case.
