HARARE, Zimbabwe.(News of the South)-President Emmerson Mnangagwa says dark forces within and without Zimbabwe have hindered the growth for Zimbabwe.

Addressing the nation through the state media, Mnangagwa said the economic sanctions on his administrations, the coronavirus pandemic as well as the opposition, have caused the economic crisis Zimbabwe finds itself in.

“Undoubtedly my administration has faced many hurdles and attacks since its inauguration, these include divisive politics from some opposition elements, the illegal economic sanctions, cyclones, droughts and more recently the deadly COVID-19 pandemic,” Mnangagwa said.

“We will continue to strive for peace, unity & progress. We will continue to open up, liberalise & modernise. Repealing POSA & AIPPA is just the start. Let us pursue with fortitude & zeal our path of reforming & rebuilding our motherland. In unity & love, nothing is impossible,” he said.

Zimbabwe has seen its currency losing value due to the hyper inflationary environment as well as political instability.

“The Reforms, Opening up, Liberalization, and Modernisation we began shall continue on an accelerated pace. The bad apples who have attempted to divide our people and our systems will be flushed out. Stability and transparency will keep on being enforced in every facet of our society. These values are the DNA of the Second Republic and must permeate all our institutions. Our political reforms have been equally been guided by these twin concepts.” President Mnangagwa said.
