Lilongwe. (News of The South) – As the countdown continues in Malawi before the citizenry goes to the polls to elect the president, members of parliament and ward councilors the officials in the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) are spending sleepless nights trying to stop the country’s vice president Saulos Chilima and other opposition party leaders who are currently enjoying popular support.

Meanwhile all arrangements to stop the Vice president from his continuous door to door and whistle stop campaign trails have reached at an advanced stage.

Surprisingly the state owned Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has made an application to the high court asking for the live coverage of an albino murder case which some quarters say is aimed at implicating the catholic bishops and the country’s vice president.

MBC boss Aubrey Sumbuleta wants the live coverage of court case, however the move has raised suspicion of foul play as the government controlled media house did not show any interest when the case started almost a year ago.
Records show that MBC both radio and television has not reported anything on the case since it started.

An insider revealed to this reporter that the regimes’ operatives have managed to pay some of the accused persons to implicate the head of the Catholic Church in Malawi Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa, UTM president Sulos Chilima and the UTM director of youth Bon Kalindo to be the ones behind the abductions and killings of people with albinism.

In the application to the high court, MBC Director General said through a live broadcast of the proceedings members of the general public will have the most immediate coverage and most accurate information about the case through a live pure feed uncensored and unedited accessible to the widest audience.

Meanwhile the High Court has ordered that the state and defense should address the court on the application and submit their argument and the court will make its ruling on the application on the 1st April, the date the trial is expected to continue.

This week governments agents through the country’s tax body sealed the Katoto Filling Station in the city of Mzuzu which belongs to the opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) second vice president Harry Mkandawire for failure to remit taxes, a move which the owner says its only political.
