On Saturday (Jul 30), the search for Miss British Beauty Curve 2016 took place in Brighton. Finalists from around the UK gathered to compete for the title and two lucky women went away crowned the winners.
Plus size model Nicole Moses, 26, was crowned first runner up at the national contest, behind joint winners Kimberley Holke and Emma Winslade.
The Miss British Beauty Curve pageant runs every year to find the Miss UK of curvy women. Outside of mainstream beauty norms, Miss British Beauty Curve recognises beauty in curvy women “to show the world how amazingly diverse Great Britain really is.”
Before the finals, runner up Moses explained that she hoped to win to help women of all sizes “recognise that we are beautiful too.”
She said: “I want to win the crown to remind myself that I am beautiful and that I am capable of anything. Winning the crown will give me that confidence and ability to go that extra mile to encourage women to celebrate there curves and to show the world that plus size comes in all shapes and sizes and that we are special. I also want petite plus size women to recognise that we are beautiful too and that there are petite plus size models out there.”
CURVES GALORE: The beauty pageant contestant
On Instagram, the 26-year-old celebrated by posting a photo of herself in her new crown.
In the caption, she wrote: “Miss London Curve 2016 has brought a crown home. 1st runner up .. I told myself and others I would bring a crown home. I feel like one in a million a runner up pageant Queen me.. who would have thought. I wanted to win but most importantly I’ve won back my confidence. I feel unstoppable and nothing will stop me now. Thank you everyone for your support. Thank you Jesus.”
Talk to blogger and former Miss British Beauty Curve beauty queen Kat Henry, Moses continued: “I feel privileged to be representing the curves of London.
“I never thought I would ever be part of a pageant but here I am; ready to take the stage and make my family and London proud. The other great thing it that l have met some amazing models who have been extremely supportive on my journey.” – Voice
