Blade runner Oscar Pistorious has been found guilty of culpable homicide for his fatal and brutal shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
The guilty verdict was delivered Friday a day after he was cleared of all murder charges by South African judge Thokozile Masipa.
Pistorious may get 15 years or a suspended sentence and might be able to resurrect his sporting career.
Judge Masipa ordered Pistorius to stand as she delivered the guilty verdict. He stood ramrod with his hands folded in front of him.
“How could the accused have reasonably foreseen the shot he fired would have killed the deceased?” Judge Masipa asked when delivering her not guilty verdict for premeditated murder.
“Clearly he did not subjectively foresee this, that he would have killed the person behind the door, let alone the deceased,” she said.
The 27-year-old Paralympic athlete sobbed loudly throughout her summation.
“The state clearly has not proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of premeditated murder. There are just not enough facts to support such a finding,” Judge Masipa ruled.
A later date will be set for sentencing.
