Out of bounds, out of bounds,
What is out of bounds?
lt doesn’t need the patience of Job,
The strength of Samson or the wisdom of Solomon
to discern the meaning:
Out of bounds is the no-go area
Parents’ bedroom is ‘out of bounds’.
Knock first before you enter
lt’s out of bounds to see their closed door intimacy
lt’s out of bounds to be a peeping Tom
lt’s out of bounds to prefer your mother to your father
They deserve thy love in equal measure
It’s out of bounds to swear to parents
Out of bounds are words not take in jest
They mean business, they’re there to inform
To give orders and to protect privacy
To give commands and to protect Ubuntu
Don’t be found wanting, don’t cry foul,
Out of bounds are informative words
They guide us on the dos and don’ts of life
They protect society’s vulnerable souls
Take note, they’re words of humility.
They bring peace like a dove.
They instil orderliness in a broken home.
They instil the Ubuntu spirit in untamed souls.
They cushion society from uncalled for intrusion
They’re a treasure trove of human sanity.
They propagate moral values of a sane society.
