London. (News of The South) – If we look at the list of all people especially cabinet ministers, the clergy and judiciary; you can see that there are no Ndebeles at all. I only saw Sithembiso Nyoni whose name is against someone’s child’s pocket money Vs what her colleagues got. Among the judges and clergy l see not a Ndebele. Justice Ben Hlatshwayo is from Chipinge. He also had some issues about land he grabbed or was given.
The list is not as troubling but raises important questions that should not be overlooked. Did the Ndebeles not apply for these loans? Were they denied the loans? Are they not qualified to be judges, to lead churches or as ministers able to service their loans? Or did they actually get the loans bit were decent and honest enough to pay it back? Did Sithembiso Nyoni actually apply for a mere $7000? Really? She must have known what others were getting hence to apply for the funds only to be embarrassed with being given a paltry 7000!
Are we not seeing tribalism practised by leaders in the financial institutions that gave out the loans? How did they give so much to everyone yet nothing to Matabeleland leaders? Could it be that Bulawayo leaders were too proud to apply saying ‘yinto seSalisbury lezi?’
Significantly, all the loans were used for businesses or projects that developed Harare and possibly other towns. Bulawayo? Nothing! Is this not why we moan of marginalisation in Bulawayo. Can an average person from Bulawayo get a loan from these financial institutions if at this high level; ministers and judges and the clergy from Bulawayo can not? Bulawayo will not progress as long as this kind of marginalisation and tribalism is not questioned. I clearly do not think Matabeleland leaders did not apply for the money, or were too pious to pay it back!!! Bancitshwa. Vakanyimwa!
I am not in any way saying they should have got the money and not paid back as did these Harare thugs! No. Everyone who gets a loan must pay back want that borrowed plus the damn interest! All l am highlighting is the anomaly on the dishing out of these funds to Harare Mafia whist excluding Bulawayo leaders. It follows those who got the money spent it starting or improving their businesses or themselves. Their kids went to the best schools to be our kids’ leaders. They live a higher standard of life because of the loans. This is not a simple issue; it had huge ramifications about the future of the country and those who will continue running it. Those without access to such loans will struggle with their meagre resources and will never catch up with the large number of the elite in this list.
What does this show is about our leaders? They have no respect for national resources. They can’t be trusted to borrow funds and pay back. They are not serving us in view of these loans they get as individuals whilst asking us to apply for funds they know they have already exhausted!! We are being taken for fools!! If they can not pay their loans, imagine what else they are doing with state funds and resources.
Who do they fear or respect, the common man or those they owe and never pay back? Are we surprised that most businesses collapse in Zim? Recall how Boka businesses collapsed after ministers borrowed and never paid back? How many more financial institutions are owed such figures and are groaning under such debts? RBZ is run by a dangerous tribal gang!!
At this point, l agree; Bulawayo leaders are mostly clean. Harare can take its Obert Mpofu and leave us alone. Even though, was he also denied the loan, or he paid back? These same mbavhas owe huge bills for Zesa and water. Can the country prosper with such leaders?
Nooooooo. It’s a dangerous combination, the judiciary, executive and clergy conniving to steal from the state coffers via our trust financial institutions.
