On Fadzai Mahere and the rest of the appointments
Academic Tinashe Eric Muzamhindo writes:
Zimbabwe (News of The South) – In every political scenario, we need independent minds who can give best expertise and analyse situations and to provide checks and balances. This brings well refined decisions and make best opportunities.
Whilst Fadzai Mahere is academicus ( academic sound), a refined lawyer, and sharper, it was not necessary for her to join the party the same day and receive a national executive appointment same day. In Politics there is need for ideological concept to take the lead. It was important to give it time and make some careful case studies before one rushes to make such key appointments.
We have Eric Knight, who came all the way from United Kingdom to be an MP during the 2013 era, when he failed to get a seat of his choice, the next thing he was attacking Tsvangirai and the Movement for Democratic Change. What matters most is consistency in politics.
We have Dzikamai Mavhaire, we have Evan Mawarire, we have so many others who pretended to have joined hands with the people’s project and later abandoned it after realising that they didn’t get what they wanted. We have Mliswa who announced that I’m forming a political pact with Tsvangirai in Norton and after grabbing the seat, he went on a rampage to attack Morgan.
Infact to set the record straight, Nelson is the one who spent days campaigning for Mliswa if not overnight, and after fiercely doing a great job, Mliswa went on to spit venomous speech by declaring that it was his effort not Tsvangirai’s MDC. Great lessons to learn from such scenario. Where is the alliance’? Where are the alliance partners? Where is Ben Manyenyeni? His strength was on local Government, surprisingly he is missing in picture. On International Relations, my assumption was Douglas Mwonzora is more senior to Gladys Tshlatwayo and he deserved a senior post since he was a former SG of the party. On Fadzai, it was necessary to give her time to grow, people making their own assessments and after two or three years, people will be able to see where things are going. You don’t judge someone’s capacity on social media issues, or being a social bloggers.
One must be judged on his or her visibility on the ground, going to rural areas, door to door campaigns, offering legal representation to the movement. Quick judgements or wrong assertions can backfire in future. One can easily turn by the time you try to correct the damage or to do damage control it will be too late. Yes, they are bringing technical expertise, but one must exercise extreme caution and diligence on such matters.
