HARARE- Zimbabwe has become famous for rising unemployment rates, an unstable economy and incredible poverty. With soaring inflation rates and retrenchment being the order of the day. Yet, through these trying times, citizens have remained hopeful, believing they are not helpless but capable.

In this light, a 39 year old businessman from Marlborough in Harare West constituency, dedicating to shining a light during this storm, has established a foundation in his own name, the Tendai Patrick Zindoga (TPZ) foundation which seeks to empower the disadvantaged and marginalised members of the community, including youth and women. It’s aim being to help the needy and disadvantaged find their feet and become sustainable.

This is not the first time Mr Tendai Zindoga has proven his dedication to empowering communities, he is the mastermind behind the first, all women’s mine in the world, Zimbaqua, a mine in a rural community in Mashonaland West, run solely by women whose lives have been transformed from being helpless to being capable.

TPZ foundation is driven by betterment of healthcare, community development as well as women and youth empowerment.

“The mandate of the Foundation is to undertake fundraising activities and engage in community development projects as well as offer business and entrepreneurial training for youth and women to equip them with life skills to enable them to utilize their potential and become financially independent,” Zindoga said.

“We also seek to provide basic medical interventions to society as well as cascade relevant information to the community and to coordinate community outreach programs for the benefit of less fortunate members of community,” he added.

TPZ foundation stands out from most charity organisations in that it also aims to preserve cultural heritage, borrow and adapt traditional business tactics to the modern business landscape and provide business leadership training for youth and women at grassroot level.

They also aim to challenge members of community to unleash their potential and become agents for socio-economic transformation for the greater good of the community and the nation as a whole towards the national vision “Vision 2030: Zimbabwe an Upper Middle-Income Society”.

Tendai Patrick Zindoga (TPZ) foundation seeks to view members of the community , not as helpless, but as capable. It seeks to strengthen the capable hand.

“As an umbrella charity foundation we aim to reach every Zimbabwean woman and youth participating in any value chain of the economy, including those in community development,” Zindoga said.

TPZ will be a voice that addresses issues at national level as well as lobby and advocate for it’s beneficiaries at policy level. Trainings through field schools and discount on various input needed across all sectors of the economy, from seed houses and other companies in partnership with the Trust can also be afforded to beneficiaries.

Access to interact with experts for advice and tips are also on the table and more benefits will come as more stakeholders start partnering with TPZ Foundation.

TPZ seeks to have a television, radio and online broadcast network. Podcasts on various issues are to be integrated in order to reach a wider audience through the internet. Programs lined up include, weekly call-ins for entrepreneurs, tips from successful entrepreneurs in the country and abroad, from various sectors of the economy. A guarantee that no one is left behind.
