The United Kingdom’s premier celebration of Zimbabwean culture, Zimfest, returns in 2026 with a bold new chapter—this time landing in the historic town of Northampton. Scheduled for Saturday, 25 July 2026, the festival will take place at the picturesque Delapré Abbey, marking a significant shift in location and scale for what has become one of the diaspora’s most anticipated annual gatherings.
After years of growth across different UK locations, Zimfest’s move to Northampton signals ambition. The sprawling grounds of Delapré Abbey offer a larger, more accessible venue, with improved transport links connecting festivalgoers from London, Birmingham, Leicester and beyond. Organisers promise an upgraded experience—more space, better staging, and an expanded cultural offering—cementing Zimfest’s reputation as more than just a music event, but a full-scale cultural festival. This year’s powerhouse line-up reflects the evolving sound of Zimbabwe and Southern Africa, blending heritage with contemporary global influences. Headliners include Jah Prayzah, Sulumani Chimbetu, Chillmaster while the Piano Republik stage energy will be powered by DBN Gogo, Scotts Maphuma LeeMcKrazy. Together, the roster captures a dynamic fusion of Sungura, Afrobeats, Dancehall, and Amapiano, genres that continue to define the African soundscape globally.
Zimfest has grown to be more than music, the festival has grown into a cultural powerhouse—drawing thousands from across the UK and beyond each year. Many communities come together to celebrate Zimbabwean and African excellence, music, food, family outing and great business opportunity. Beyond the headline performances, attendees can expect authentic Zimbabwean cuisine, fashion and craft marketplaces, family-friendly activities, a celebration of identity, heritage, and community. It is this combination that makes Zimfest not just an event, but a diaspora homecoming—a space where generations reconnect with their roots while embracing modern African culture. Zimfest is a cultural moment for the Diaspora set to entertain. As Zimbabwean music continues to gain international recognition, Zimfest 2026 arrives at a pivotal time. The inclusion of Amapiano heavyweights alongside Zimbabwean icons reflects a broader cultural shift—one where African sounds are no longer niche, but central to global music conversations.
For Northampton, hosting Zimfest is equally significant. The town becomes, for one day, a vibrant hub of African excellence—welcoming thousands into a celebration of rhythm, identity, and unity. It also gives a boost to Northampton businesses as the city comes alive. This year’s event is expected to be the biggest ever, 2025 was the biggest but many were impressed with the event and many who had never been are planning to attend. Zimbabwean based fans have for a few years started travelling to the UK for Zimfest. Media and social media coverage and posts have reached many and Zimfest is set to live for the next generations as its legacy lives on. Zimfest 2026 is not just a festival—it is a statement. A statement of growth. A statement of culture. A statement that Zimbabwean and African music continues to thrive—loud, proud, and global.
