Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-Foreign media reports state that North Korea has warned the US against taking any provocative actions in the region as it is ready to hit back with nuclear attacks.
The latest ramping of tensions comes in the aftermath of a military parade during the 105th anniversary of the birth of North Korea’s founding president Kim II-sung.
According to a BBC report “soldiers, tanks and other military hardware were paraded in Pyongyang in a show of strength on Saturday”
The hostile intent for war by North Korea comes amid speculation that its current leader Kim Jong-un could order another nuclear test, the root cause of the present problems with US.
“We’re prepared to respond to an all-out war with an all-out war. We are ready to hit back with nuclear attacks of our own style against any nuclear attacks”, North Korea military official Choe Ryong-Hae reportedly said.
During Saturday’s military parade ‘rows of military bands and columns of troops marched into Pyongyang’s main Kim II-sung square in the heart of the city’.
BBC reports that on display were what appeared to be submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) which could be developed to house nuclear warheads capable of reaching targets around the world.
This has raised concerns that North Kora is near to developing a nuclear weapon which could be a dangerous scenario given the volatile temperament of its leadership.
On Friday China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned that ‘conflict could break out at any moment’ adding that if war occurred there could be no winner.
“We call on all parties to refrain from provoking each other whether in words or actions, and not let the situation get to an irreversible stage”, he said.
US president Donald Trump has previously warned that he would deal with the Korea problem even without Chinese assistance.
