Build Zimbabwe Alliance leader Dr Noah Manyika yesterday made his position known that he supports MDC- Alliance presidential candidate Chamisa’s presidential election challenge saying that his displeasure with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) is a matter of public record and not something he is expressing because of this petition.

Addressing the media in Harare yesterday, Dr Manyika compared the size of President Elect Emmerson Mnangagwa’s response to the petition with his saying it is quite big yet the truth does not need a lot of noise that the people get.

“The truth is very simple and if you read our affidavit you will find that it just focused on some very specific things.

“If more people voted at a polling station than were registered at that polling station there was fraud and it doesn’t take 500 pages to make that point,” Dr Manyika said.

He added that there being polling stations that appeared from nowhere and the numbers don’t add up also means “there was fraud.”

Dr Manyika added that if the Judges of the Constitutional court look at the numbers the decision should not be difficult for them.

In his affidavit Dr Manyika said they uncovered some irregularities in the results announced by ZEC which include; differences between announced and published results, double counting of polling stations, polling stations with identical results, ghost polling stations and numbers not tallying.

He also expressed grievances over the conduct of ZEC Chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba saying she has a misunderstanding of the role she is supposed to play in the electoral board which is different from the court of law where she is the ultimate authority as a judge and can silence people.

“This is an organisation that is supposed to make sure that everybody trusts the process and if people don’t trust the process then you have an issue and will end up with situations like this,” he added.

Dr Manyika said the problem in the country is for 38 years there are people who had monopolised knowledge of the processes and it is high time Zimbabweans say enough is enough.

Build Zimbabwe Alliance was registered as a political party in October 2016 and the 2018 Harmonised elections were the first it took part in.
