Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe. (News Of The South) – A NEW hotel – Damview Hotel – which recently opened its doors to the public in Chitungwiza, is poised to put the town on the map especially in this era when domestic and foreign tourism are at their peak.

Situated near Chikwanha Shopping Centre and overlooking Manyame River, the new facility has been opened at a time when most people were forced travel to Harare in their quest for quality services from leading hotels like Monomotapa Crowne Plaza, Meikles Hotel, New Ambassador, Cresta Jameson and the Rainbow Towers, among others.

It is hoped that the new hotel – by virtue of its unique make-up and open-air ambience – will soon rank as one of the leading such facilities in Zimbabwe since its outlook stands out from what has become the norm at most hotels.
The view from the hotel is eye-catching: patrons can enjoy the open air ambience while lounging in the green gardens that overlook the spectacular Manyame River as it hisses by.
To those who like fishing, this will be an opportunity for them to do so with their families as they can bring along their fishing rods and angle for a bream which they then gut and throw onto their braai stand for a scrumptious meal.
If you are one of those people who enjoy the sing-song of birds as they commune among themselves, then this joint is ideal for you, while music also filters from every strategic corner wherever you are lounging.
According to an official at the hotel, plans are underway to introduce boat-rides for patrons, so brace yourself for that memorable ride along the mesmerizing Manyame River water mass!
The structure of the hotel is typical traditional thatch from the gazebos, the bars, the rooms, while there are stages for live performances.
Kids can also enjoy themselves on the jumping castles that are also on offer, while games like pool as well as televisions are also on offer.
Talking about music, Dendera musician Suluman Chimbetu will be performing as the maiden artiste on Sunday during a family show that will start at 3 in the afternoon, at the hotel.
“We are going to open two more hotels in Chitungwiza while the third one will be opened in Southlea Park,” said the official.
Chitungwiza is one of the largest cities in Zimbabwe in terms of population but it relies on Harare for most of its major services.
The majority of its residents commute to Harare on a daily basis for employment, fun or any other major business ventures.
But with the opening of facilities like Damview Hotel, it is hoped that the hotel will now stand on its own feet and start generating revenue for its own coffers and development.
And domestic tourism is one of them.
