A plethora of lies, general mistrust and political polarization have negatively affected the much taunted vat – en- sit political relationship between the renegade former secretary generals of the MDC. The two merged their political outfits at a low key event on Wednesday in an event which could be easily be mistaken for a baby shower though invaded by a few men whose attraction was to prey upon widows and some jilted singles to pounce upon.
Several political analysts have referred to the basic principles of arithmetic in determining the aggregate of this so called grand coalition. Vickson Mundia a Zimbabwean academic based in South Africa compared the non- event to the summation of zero and zero.
The name of the party, constitution, symbols, slogans, colours, flag and the distribution of executive posts remains a thorny issue. The lower structures are vehemently resisting any overtures to relinquish their positions to accommodate their political mates since they argue that they were never consulted. Several people in both camps are now having second thoughts about the whole motive of the so-called union.
The Ncube – led club has virtually no structures in the all Mashonaland provinces and have a few people with whom they had been wandering in the political wilderness. On the other hand the Biti Club has no structures other than acquaintances with whom they agree on their total resentment for Morgan Tsvangirai.
The distribution of senior positions remains far from over and is turning worse by the day. It now appears the ceremony was held earlier than to be if ever it was to be held.
Several senior figures from the Biti gang are worried as it seems like the whole arrangement is not accommodating them.
Elton Mangoma still feels that he is the mastermind of the whole revolt and should therefore be the undisputed president whilst Biti believes he has more to offer and on the other hand Ncube is gunning for the same portfolio.

The Madzores, Mkhwananzi, Matibenga, Sipepa Nkomo Tsunga and Mafume are other figures who are not content with just being offered the useless and irrelevant National Executive posts. Another borne of contention is the issue of how to contribute in terms of assets and resources.
There is no record of any Ncube owned assets as Ncube claims to be the sole benefactor and sponsor of the party whilst the Biti gang has considerable loot from the people’s project. These among other issues seem to be stalling the finalization of the merger despite the predestined summation being zero at most and somewhere in the negative factoring in the character de – branding exercise.
The whole exercise was done as an advertorial to hoodwink the international community into believing that Tsvangirai is past his relevance and a new alternative was on board. This form of desperation has to be understood in the context of the festive season when all entrepreneurs are selling their wares to manage the expensive season ahead – likewise this deliberate attempt to fund their holidays has to be taken in a similar context of politico – entrepreneurs.
As several diplomats will be visiting their home countries for the year- end holidays it was planned to be a catchy strategy to win the support and confidence of those with deep pockets to sustain their now extravagant and expensive lifestyles punctuated with several concubines the world over not to mention the mansions dotted across the globe.
In this era of great political wits, it appears as if the whole stage managed union has caused more harm than good as the political dividends have diminished to zilch. A number of activists from either side are now clandestinely and Nicodymously contemplating to rejoin the party of excellence. It has now dawned upon the people that the much taunted about bloody money in abundance is not there or the “leaders “have spent it on behalf of the people. It is becoming more and more difficult of to mobilize and recruit amongst the restive populace on one’s own resources for a project that is doomed as stated by one Durban based political analyst Joel Marere against the brand and person of Morgan Tsvangirai.
The MDC T under President Tsvangirai has remained resolute on its open door policy of admission of members. A senior figure of the party dispelled rumours that there are any talks with the democratic deserters. He reiterated that people join the party as individuals driven by their conscience and the party is in no habit to admit certain people under special conditions so the big tent is open to those who subscribe to its principles and has exit points for those who are alien to the democratic creed or tire along the way.
Stanley Mutambiranwa a political scientist based in South Africa did not mince his words when asked for his opinion.
“The marriage between Biti and Ncube was never because of their shared political ideology or common goals. Their only common denominator is their spirited hatred, scorn and disdain for Morgan Tsvangirai. Between the two of them none possesses charisma comparable to Chamisa, so in essence they are crawling political upstarts who are yet to learn the ropes, and theirs is a battle to outsmart each other in political scheming.” Munyaradzi Chidarikire a doctoral fellow at Wits University weighed in with his narrative “The people of Zimbabwe knew both gentlemen through Tsvangirai and I have no doubt in my mind that the people of Zimbabwe can separate chaff and grain. Even Lucifer was thrown from the big tent in heaven because of a similar behavior. The world is yet to see the offspring from a same sex union and truly expect anything from this co-habitation as a sign of your own foolishness”
Having spoken to several role players in Zimbabwean politics, it became clear that the people are a step ahead of the schemers. Several diplomats contacted, though evasive in nature, a clear sign of accepting the reality on the ground admitted that Tsvangirai is within the people whist his distracters are planning to move away to the people. In this turmoil and competition for supremacy in the abortive marriage of convenience turned inconvenience it is not possible to get anyone speaking from a point of authority between the bride and the groom. No need to give a chance to this evidently barren relationship.
Even Jesus in all his acts of kindness never did he invite the devil for dinner. Neither did Jesus instruct his disciples instruct his disciples to lie as a sign of love. Jesus would call people as brood of vipers and at times dogs – calling a spade a spade is no sin but it give people an opportunity to turn over a new leaf. So if Biti believed that Ncube is a sellout and an extension of Zanu PF for nine years – what has he seen now? Or he is simply grandstanding?
