The Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba has responded to the threats that has been made by a section of his eligible voting population saying nobody is forced to vote.
“Why threaten not to vote even if you have a dispute, if you don’t want to vote stay at home,” said President Pohamba.
The president made these remarks while officially opening the multi billion dollar Tsumeb-Katwitiwi road at the Mpungu Vlei.
President Pohamba said the road has not been built due to people’s threats but through infrastructural development programs issued by the governments.
The Namibians will next year go to the polls for national and presidential elections and the majority have posed threats to the government saying they are going to boycott the presidential elections until certain disputes and demands are met.
Several disputes have been submitted by many Namibian communities on land and resources to the government and these disputes are said to have caused all this after the government seems not to care to have them addressed.
