Myanmar (News of The South) – A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake has struck central Myanmar, unleashing widespread devastation and causing hundreds of feared deaths. The seismic event, which occurred on March 28th, compounded the already dire situation in a nation grappling with ongoing civil war. This eartquate is the biggest in 44 years.
The earthquake’s impact has caused widespread damage. Reports indicate significant infrastructure damage, with buildings collapsing, roads fracturing, and critical structures like bridges and dams succumbing to the force of the quake. Images emerging from Myanmar are evidence of extensive damage. The city of Mandalay, located near the epicenter, has suffered extensive damage.
