Mutare, Zimbabwe. (News Of The South) – Eastern Region Division One outfit Mutare City Rovers in their quest to get the sole Premiership ticket partnered with Marsmery Travel received a donation valued over $600 from the bus men on Thursday.

Magusha as the municipality team is known by its supporters received 36 track suits and 36 warm up T-shirts with the busmen pledging to chip in with players’ allowances and transport.

Handing over the donation at the town house Marsmery Human Resources officer Benjamin Chindima said his company was partnering with the local team in their quest to play in the premiership. He noted that the consignment he had brought to the City Rovers executive will go a long way in motivating the players and urged other corporate companies in the city to rally behind the team as they begun their journey to snatch the sole premiership ticket come end of season in November.

“Basically we want to motivate the team so that they play to their best ability to make sure the premiership ticket is given to the council soccer outfit. We have passion for the Mutare teams and we are ready to assist wherever we can, and it is our fervent hope that other corporate companies within Mutare rally behind Mutare City Rovers in making sure that they get the nod to play in the top flight league,” said Chindima.

City Rovers failed to secure a place in the top flight league last season when they fell short of two points behind log leaders Dongo Sawmills who were eventually promoted to play in the Premier Soccer League.

In accepting the donation City of Mutare Chamber Secretary Gladys Mundeta said the Municipal team was grateful for the donation as it would go a long way in boosting the morale of players in camp.

“We are thankful for the kit and other allowances considering the financial challenges we face as a local authority. We also need corporate companies to partner us in our quest to improve the welfare of our players and to you Marsmery Travel we guarantee you that we will not let you down as we begin our journey to snatch the sole premiership ticket,” she said.

Speaking at the same occasion City Rovers Patron Tatenda Nhamarare said the team was focused on attaining premier league promotion as a matter of priority.

“This season we are very focused and we are looking at premier league promotion as our first priority. We have managed to acquire very experienced players this season and we hope that they will use their experience to lead other young players to stardom. Generally I can say this partnership with Marsmery Travel has motivated us to become one force that will produce the desired results,” added Nhamarare.

Magusha retained most of their influential players during the window period that include Blessing Mwamuka, Bonvolio Mukwena, Tapfumanei Gweremwezhe and Bruce Poso. To beef up the squad coach Kenneth “Bokande” Kachara put ink on paper for new players’ namely former Buffaloes fc goalkeeper Hope Bere, Patrick Alifasi, Vesta Tembani and Edmore Sibanda.
