Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the south)-Friends and relatives of the late Gillian Zvomuya gathered in London on Tuesday for a service in her honour before burial.

A mum-of-four, Gillian was found dead in a car outside a supermarket in a suspected murder case on 30 January.

Her husband Norbet Chikerema has since been arrested and  is under trial.

Police initially said the victim died as a result of stab injuries, but a post-mortem examination later revealed that she died from head injuries.

Police also later confirmed that Mrs Zvomuya suffered injuries from a “bladed article” in the attack leading to suspicions and the arrest of her husband who was in hospital himself.

Various friends and relatives took turns to testify about Gillian’s upstanding personality and lamented her untimely passing away in cold blood.

People sang songs and her church pastor delivered a sermon that was moving and touching for the assembled mourners.

The murder of Gillian weirdly on the 30th January 2017 weirdly coincides with that of the tragic death of another Zimbabwean woman, Emily Munemo in 2015 on the 30th of January.

There has been increasing concern about the rise of murders of passion for Zimbabweans in the diaspora in a very disturbing trend.
