News of the South HARARE –     A disgruntled Mbare vendor has said former President Robert Mugabe is better that his successor Emmerson Mnangagwa after his system demolished their vending stalls leaving them with no source of income.

She said the 37 years of Mugabe still allowed them to sell their wares and earn a living.

“We also want them to give us back Mugabe. He was better. We were better off. I have spent 37 years in Zimbabwe under the Mugabe rule.

“I never needed to run from the police for vending. Tsunami (murambatsvina) came but we continued selling. Murambatsvina would target illegal residential areas and not vendors,” the vendor said.

She went on to complain about the disruption of business by the violent protests that took place because of fuel price hikes.

“Last week there was no movement of public transport, we spent our days at home. What do they want us to do? How shall we survive in a country in which we voted and won?”
