“You messed up” Mapfumo tells Mugabe.
Legendary Chimurenga music guru Thomas Mapfumo says if he gets the chance to meet former President Robert Mugabe he will tell him he messed up.
Speaking at a press conference in the capital Harare today, Mukanya called on the young people to take the lead in shaping the future of the country. He said the future of this country lies in the young people who must take the nation forward.
“There is no new dispensation but a new administration. A new dispensation will only come when you the young people have changed the system”, said Mukanya.
Asked if he is going to meet the new president Mnangagwa during his stay, Mukanya said he would like to meet all the political players as they are all Zimbabweans. He said politics must not divide the people.
“If the old man was still there I wouldn’t be here today”, Mukanya reiterated. He did not go into details on his acrimony with the former leader.
Mapfumo will perform in Harare at the Glamis arena on Saturday 28th along side another music icon Dr Oliver Mtukudzi. Also billed to perform at the bira is Andy Muridzo, Sulumani Chimbetu and young Gary Tight.
Speaking at the same conference, Mtukudzi said there is no competition nor rivalry between the two legends as perceived by many music writers. He confirmed they will be going into the studio next week with Mukanya to start work on a collaboration.
The organisers of the show promised a well put together show.
