Manchester United manager David Moyes has urged his charges to be focused and not allow complacency to creep in as they take on struggling Spanish side Real Sociedad in tonight’s Champions League clash in Spain.
The Red Devils top Group A with seven points from three games – a point ahead of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen and three points in front of Shakhtar Donetsk. Sociedad who are yet to claim a point in the tournament anchor the four team log
Despite such a tremendously poor showing so far by Sociedad, Moyes is not taking the Spanish team lightly.
He made it clear that United can only underestimate the potential of their opponents at their own peril and this can adversely affect their chances of making it to the last 16 of the lucrative tournament.
“I certainly won’t take anything for granted,” said Moyes.
“I have a lot of respect for Sociedad, and we will have to play well on Tuesday if we are going to get those 10 points which will get us over the line.”
Man United goal minder David De Gea,seemed to sing from the same hymn book with his manager as he added: “It’s very difficult to play at the level Real Madrid and Barcelona are at.
“They might not be at the top level yet but it is obvious Real Sociedad have been playing great football over the years.”
United will troop into the Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastian Spain without the injured trio of Jonny Evans, Rafael and Tom Cleverly.
