Modern ‘Ronald Nare’ Moyo was born on January 1, 1958. He was the oldest out of six siblings. Modern grew up was brought up by his mother and was very intelligent at school.

Unfortunately due to financial challenges he had to do some menial work before deciding to go and join the liberation army at a tender age of seventeen. He was one of the youngest Zipra cadres in his camp. With determination and focus Modern excelled in everything he did and climbed up ranks ending up being a Captain in his squad where he was incharge of dismantling bombs. During that exwrcise, he got injured and lost his right hand on the Zimbabwean side of the Zimbabwe /Zambian border.

He received initial basic treatment in Zambia before he had to be transferred to Zimbabwe for discrete treament due to the then ongoing liberation war negotiations tensions.

After returning from the liberation in 1980, Modern stayed at Ruwa Rehabilitation Camp to recover from his injury.

Morden consequently married Silindile Nkala, and were blessed with two sons Hampton and Brighton, and a daughter Melton.
Modern quietly lived all his life after the war at his house at Magwegwe West, and alternatively at his plot near Bulawayo. It is with great sadness that Modern Moyo unexpectedly passed away on Monday October 31, 2022.
