News of the South HARARE – Norton legislator Temba Mliswa yesterday took a public HIV test and revealed his results after he vehemently denied bedding minors saying he prefers for older, single mothers instead.
This came as a response to accusations on social media that he infected a minor with HIV after having sexual relations with her.
Addressing the media in Harare yesterday Mliswa said social media has brought the worst in some people being turned into an ugly platform for obscenity.
“This is sad and does not mirror the respectful and cultured manner that once epitomised and set apart Zimbabweans,” Mliswa said.
He added that this raises the need to enact laws to certify people before beig allowed to engage in social media.
“Coming to me personally, as you know I do not usually respond to social media slurs.
“It has been peddled that I hace been in the habit of consorting with underage girls.
” I categorically deny such frivolous claims with the contempt they deserve,” he added.
Mliswa said he is aware that denial will not stop naysayers from insisting otherwise hence the stance of a public HIV test.
He also said HIV is not a death sentence and had he tested positive it would not change anything about his role as a legislator.
