Mliswa on Thursday wrote on his microbloging Twitter handle:”Matutu Lewis is an intellectually smart and disciplined cadre who has the capacity to deal with a visionary youth.
“I used to invite him to address junior councillors on nationalism and patrotism; such is his commitment on the matters.”
Pupurai Togarepi, Matutu and Godfrey Tsenemgamu were suspended from the party after they took part in a a Press conference aimed at exposing Zanu PF leaders involved in alleged corrupt activities.
Their initiative backfired as they were all suspended.
The trio was, however, given a chance to keep their membership only if they enrolled for a rehabilitation course at Zanu PF‘s Hebert Chitepo School of ideology.
Tsenengamu refused the offer and was consequently expelled from the party.
He suggested that Zanu PF leaders involved in corruption were instead the ones in need of ideological training.
Togarepi did not actively take part in the Press conference but was, however, still accused of supporting his colleagues from the background.
Togarepi and Matutu have since completed their rehabilitation courses and are now awaiting the party’s decision on their fate.
“Those are politburo positions so it is not for me to say what will happen to them in terms of whether they will retain their positions or not,” Mliswa, a former Zanu PF MP, said.
