Tich Mataz has sparked conversation online after sharing a deeply personal reflection on his life journey, touching on themes of success, hardship, and resilience.

In a candid Facebook post, Mataz described waking up with gratitude, acknowledging that “that alone is a blessing some people didn’t get.” The media figure went on to revisit defining moments of his past — from material success, including “25 cars” and “nine houses,” to periods of personal difficulty marked by deportation and isolation.

The post reflects on the emotional toll of public life, with Mataz recalling “quiet nights” when he questioned whether he had been forgotten. Yet, in what many readers interpret as a symbolic full circle, he revealed a return to the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), where he previously made his mark.

“Life has a strange way of folding back onto itself,” he wrote, hinting at both reflection and renewal.

Mataz did not shy away from acknowledging past mistakes. “I’m not here to tell you I made all the right choices. I didn’t,” he stated, emphasizing instead his gratitude for survival and the opportunity to keep moving forward.

The post also addressed a question he was recently asked: whether he would relive his life if given the chance. His response was immediate — yes.

“Not because I want to relive the pain,” he explained, “but because every fall taught me how to stand.”

Closing with a direct challenge to his audience, Mataz invited readers to reflect on their own resilience: whether they would have endured the same journey and remained standing.

The message, punctuated by the phrase “Zvazviri” (loosely translated as “it is what it is”), has resonated widely, with many praising its honesty and introspective tone.

As Mataz noted in his conclusion, his story is far from over — a sentiment that underscores both his personal comeback and continued presence in the media landscape.
