MDC Alliance Deputy Chairperson and Mp for Zengeza West, Job Sikhala was arrested and is currently detained at Harare Central Station.

In a Twitter account posted by MDC Harare province, said charges against Sikhala are not yet known.

Job Sikhala who has been living in hiding is now in police custody, after the Zengeza West legislator and former Zanu PF Youth leader, Godfrey Tsenengamu was targeted by Mnangagwa’s administration in a bid to block the protesters for the July 31 demonstrations.

The police have listed Sikhala, Makomborero Haruziviishe, Godfrey Kurauone, Gift Ostallos Siziba, Promise Mkwananzi, Denford Ngadziore, Allan Moyo, Obey Sithole, Obert Masaraure, Jim Kunaka, Stephen Chuma and Robson Chere.

Sikhala allegedly went into hiding soon after the arrest of July 31 protests organiser and opposition Transform Zimbabwe leader Jacob Ngarivhume as well as Freelance journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono for allegedly inciting violence ahead of the protests.

Sikhala who will be joining Kurauone, Chin’ono and Ngarivhume who are languishing in remand prison after they were repeatedly denied bail following their arrest.

Apart from Sikhala’s arrest, ZimRights is shocked and disturbed by the reports of extra- judicial killing of the MDC Alliance, District Coordinating councilor, Lavender Chiwaya of ward 4 Hurungwe Central in Karoi, Mashonaland West province.

He was 34 years.

Reports are that Chiwaya’ s body was found dumped on his doorstep.

The MDC Alliance reports Chiwaya was hunted by state security before his killing.

Chiwaya represents wat ZimRights identified as the many invisible victims of on going crackdown on activists whose lives are in danger for exercising their rights.

” Their lives are more in danger because they are way from the limelight. ZimRights believes their lives matter.

“In the Citizens cry, # ZimbabweanLivesMatter, the life of Chiwaya is included and one life lost for any reason is too much” , said ZimRights.

Meanwhile, This incident comes after the State denied that there is no crisis in the country, and ZimRights has filed complaints through Zimbabwe Human Rights Commision (ZHRC) and the National Peace and Reconciliation Commision ( NPRC).
