(News of The South) – I HAVE WATCHED WITH AMAZEMENT ARGUMENTS ABOUT WHETHER THIS IS NEHANDA OR NOT!
I and most Zimbabweans have always known and been taught that this homwe ya Mbuya Nehanda one of the foremost Mhondoro dzeZimbabwe! I don’t remember ever any confusion that this being was Nehanda even during the war when Nehanda invocation was a great boost for morale! I suggest instead of all these meaningless assertions and counter assertions we must wait for caption that will be put on the statue.
Charwe Nyakasikana of all the homwe yaMbuya Nehanda remains the most iconic for what she did in fighting colonialism and there is nothing absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating this homwe yaMbuya Nehanda as a depiction of the spirit that possessed her! The mighty spirit of Mbuya Nehanda the same can be said of Gumboreshumba hung with her possessed by the spirit of Sekuru Kaguvi. These great spirits are time travellers from one epoch to another.
Spiritually speaking they are still with us today. While the homwe age and die or are killed as in Charwe Nyakasikana and Gumboreshumba the spirits don’t die with homwe but move on to manifest in another homwe. These Mhondoros manifest across totems are not of a particular dzinza! SO WAIT FOR CAPTION ON THE STATUE AS I AM SURE ZANUPF AND GOVERNMENT KNOW PRETTY WELL THEY HONOURING NEHANDA THROUGH HER MOST FAMOUS ICONIC HOMWE JUST AS WE KNEW DURING THE WAR!, no confusion on that at all!!
