Mawarire Attacks MDC-T Election Manifesto
By Godfrey Tembo.
Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-The MDC-T election manifesto is indecisive and exhibits strains of a party that is not sure about its economic plans according to the former spokesperson of Joyce Mujuru’s National People’s Party (NPP)
Speaking on social media Jealousy Mawarire ridiculed the manifesto for stating that it “will suspend roadblocks” which have been a source of angst for many who have come to view them as ZRP fundraising initiatives.
In the manifesto the MDC-T says “All revenues will go to the Consolidated Revenue Fund and fundraising roadblocks will be suspended forthwith”
“We will revamp our roads, railways and energy plants. Parastatals will either be commercialized or recapitalized through private equity or venture capital”
Mawarire however said that mean no change from the current regime.
“These guys don’t know what to do with parastatals and police road blocks”
“Recapitalise or commercialise parastatals that’s policy indecision”, he said.
“Suspend roadblocks. Temporary measures the reintroduce when MDC-T government wants to fundraise? Decisiveness is key in policy formulation”
“If you say commercialise or privatize you are giving alternatives. It implies they’re mutually exclusive”, he said.
The MDC-T manifesto has drawn the attention of many with its lofty minded promise to create a $100 billion economy within the first 100 days if the party wins the 201 elections.
Currently Zimbabwe has a $4 billion economy which has been hit by liquidity challenges, de-industrialisation and an absence of investments.
