Victoria Falls , Zimbabwe (News of The South) – – Former World Boxing Championship Welterweight International Champion Charles ‘Busy Bee’ Manyuchi is expected to grace the Five Nations Boxing Friendly championship this Saturday in the resort town of Victoria Falls.

The tournament which is the first of its kind will see junior and senior amateur athletes from Malawi, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe competing for the top honours.

The event which will be held at the Great Enclosure at the Kingdom Hotel on Saturday night will be used as a springboard for assessing boxers who will earn points towards qualifying for the upcoming African Olympic Qualifiers, to be held in Senegal.

The reigning GBU intercontinental and UBC and WBF Middleweight world champion Charles Manyuchi is attending the event merely as source of inspiration to the Zimbabwean team in their quest to qualify for the Olympic games.

Apart from that his presence will be the yardstick for the two young junior boxers Prince Urengwa and Personal Mpofu who are scheduled to travel for the Youth Olympics in Senegal.

Organisers of the Five Nations Boxing Friendly Championship in a statement to this publication highlighted that they were delighted to rope in the Zimbabwean superstar boxer Charles Manyuchi as well as making it known to the public that he will be the guest of honour.

“The championship is going to be the event of the year on the Boxing calendar and we look forward to making this a yearly event that will grow in scope and bring valuable sports tourism to Zimbabwe.

“We would like to thank Manyuchi (Charles) for backing the growth of boxing as a sport in Zimbabwe and look forward to producing many future world champions from our stable of young amateur boxers,” read the statement.
